Circuit Breaker Box

Helping students grow to be independent adults is very important to us at Revolutionary Learning. We hear far too many stories of young adults stepping out into the world without knowing how to do simple tasks, such as: wash a load of laundry, basic home repair, or prepare a simple meal. In addition to teaching the core subjects and a love of art and nature, we strive to instill confidence and self-reliance in the next generation.

Our students will learn a variety of skills during their time at Revolutionary Learning. We will begin the 2019-2020 year by studying electricity and circuits. We will learn how to map a breaker box at Ms Sarah's house and we will observe how much current various appliances use, both while idle and in use. We will create our own electrical circuits with a variety of projects using Snap Circuits. Our learning will culminate with the students building a variety of generators!

Basic woodworking is also on our list of activities for this coming year. Birds houses, bat boxes, and other small projects will be completed. Our students will become proficient in using basic tools. Using hammers, screw drivers, and hand saws, as well as power drills and other standard tools, will become second nature.

Lunch is provided on Wednesdays and our students will be the chefs! We will guide them in creating a meal plan, budgeting, making shopping lists, taking a field trip to the grocery store, and how to properly store food. They will learn how to safely slice and dice fruits and vegetables and how to operate the oven and stove. After eating lunch, the students will clean up the kitchen, wash dishes, and do any laundry that may be necessary, such as wash rags or table cloths.

Classes begin September 17th and we can't wait to watch our students grow!
